Yep, that's what we thought when we were approached to do this blog: Dear lord, not another food blog. It just seemed like it had been done before, and what could we bring to it? Plus, no one actually approached us. This was our idea.
Also, who wants to read a food blog? Have you ever read a food blog? We've tried, because other people's recipes inspire us to try something new. But, sorry blogger, no one wants to read about that Saturday in your youth when your grandmother would fry bacon and hit you with a wooden spoon if you dared sneak a bite before breakfast was served, and how that early trauma may have even been your first stop on the journey toward a meat-free existence. We just want the damn recipe for Coconut Bacon, OK?
So, we're giving this a shot, is what we're saying. Oh, and we probably won't give you recipes. That's because we don't really use them. Sometimes we start there, as a research exercise, but then go off and do our own thing. Sometimes we're just winging it based on what we have. Sometimes it ends with a pizza delivery. But all the time? We're playing, experimenting, and having way more fun than most people do in the kitchen. Especially on Thursdays.
Proper Thursday started as our official celebration of the unofficial start of the official weekend. We have a couple drinks, listen to great music, cook something amazing, and then spend a lot of time feeling bad for people who aren't us. And that's just not fair, we thought. Everybody deserves a Proper Thursday. Since we can't go to each of your houses and get proper with you, and we'd been wanting to do some kind of blog thing here, it all kind of came together here.
Now if we could only figure out what that's going to look like. Stay tuned...
